- Can a master be re-inked?
Yes, you can continue to add ink and produce thousands of prints from one master.
- What is the mesh count?
Each master is a 200-mesh fabric, or about 40,000 holes per square inch.
- Do I have to attatch a film to the mesh?
No, the saran-type film is already bonded to the screen.
- What is the infrared imaging process?
The heat from flashbulbs burns off the film where it meets carbon artwork, creating a silk-screen stencil.
- Why is a photocopy used to image the master?
Most photocopiers and laser printers use carbon-based toner.

- What is print gocco ink?
The ink is a highly viscous emulsion of water and oil.
- Is print gocco ink non-toxic?
Yes, it meets non-toxic requirements.
- How do I apply the inks?
Squeeze them on the image like decorating a cake.
- Can all the colors be mixed?
Yes, stir them together before you apply to the master. Scoop the ink into a Gocco ink cone or triangular plastic bag. Cut a small hole in the bottom and squeeze onto the image.
- Can other inks be used?
Yes, of the inks we've tested, the Jacquard professional quality inks produce the best results. However, they are water based, and should not be mixed with Gocco inks. Also, until the ink dries a little on the screen, the first few prints will be runny, but will get cleaner the more you print.
- Can inked masters be saved?
Put the inked master in a zip-lock bag and store in the refrigerator. They keep for several days.
- How can I remove the ink from a master?
Do not use soap and water. Scrape the ink from the master, then wipe residue with a paper towel. Don't forget to clean the acetate cover sheet. Make a test print to be sure all ink is gone.
- Is there a cleaner to remove the ink?
Yes, the Gocco cleaner is excellent; or you can use a lanolin-based hand cleaner.
